E-Waste Recycling Project 2012

Please fill out our Community Survey!

RMQ has big plans for 2012 and one of them is a major community project: E-waste Recycling. We're still thinking of a name for this awareness and collection campaign, please post comments with suggestions here or send to vp@rotaractmq.org

What is E-Waste?

Everyone has electronic waste ("e-waste") at home: old unused mobile phones, computers, TV's. Recycling centres are available but they charge a fee to recycle your old items so it's not a great incentive to recycle. Dumping e-waste into landfill causes many problems and is a waste of recoverable materials.

RMQ are looking to tackle this issue in 2012 with a 2-step approach:

1. awareness campaigns about social responsibility and the effect of e-waste on the environment

2. a local collection and recycling initative for the Epping/Eastwood/Ryde area.

Things are still in the planning stage at the moment, and we are looking at a Project Local grant to get started. If you have any ideas, want to be on the committee or just want to lend a hand with any part of this project, that's great! Please contact Holstein vp@rotaractmq.org or Josh joshua.ck.tang@gmail.com

If you haven't already done so, our Community Survey will take you less than 5 minutes to fill in. Your input is greatly appreciated!
